SPRFC v Birkmyre
18 - 22

At a boggy breezy Birkmyre, the Polis started slowly against the league leaders by letting the home side attack with ball in hand
and dictate the early exchanges of the game. With a stiff breeze in their favour, Birkmyre pinned the MIB in their own 22 for long
periods of the first half, and this allowed the home side to capitalise on the many police mistakes. 16 points were scored which
included a mad try when the Police were caught referee watching.  In reply, fullback Aikman put over a penalty for the visitors.

Half time and only 13 points behind. Time for the visitors to step it up a notch

The second half was quite simply the best Police team performance of the season so far. The forwards pushing their opponents
all over the park and the backs breaking gain lines.  In doing so, three trys were scored by Rankin on his debut, the "in your face”
Thomson and the flying Obama, whose five points put the MIB into the lead with a few minutes remaining. Unfortunately instead of
closing out the game, the Police conceded two late penalties which were easily converted by the Birkmyre standoff.

Final score 22-18 to the home side and a case of what should have been for the Police.  However to go to the league leader’s
own patch and be the better team (the oppositions words) is hugely encouraging and another step in the rebuilding process.
