SPRFC v Strathendrick
BOWL
3 - 29

The MIB began the new season by welcoming Strathendrick RFC (last years finalists of the Bowl trophy)  to Lochinch. In bright
dry conditions, the home side immediately sent the Fintry men a statement of intent by dominating the first 15 minutes of the
game. With good ball retention the Police moved relentlessly up the park to the Strathendrick try line looking for a score. They did
cross the line but the referee disallowed it. However the pressure eventually made the Strathendrick defence concede a penalty.
This which was converted by P.Thomson. Scant reward for some great work.

Clearly rattled, the Fintry side decided to wake up and start their game but was met with a robust Police response. So much so
that the referee flashed the yellow card to both sides for a bit of handbags. Undaunted by the opposition, the Police were holding
their own at the set piece and looked to be going into half time on equal terms however a slip by the MIB defence gifted a very
soft try to Strathendrick .

3-10 at half time and a pleasant surprise to the home support.

For a half an hour of the second half the Police competed well, taking a strike against the head and forcing the Fintry back line to
spill the ball on several occasions however as the game drew to a close, Strathendrick scored a couple of simple tries to kill off
the game.

A 3-29 loss but the score didn’t fully reflect the Police efforts or their contribution to the game. A limited style maybe but you
certainly couldn’t criticise the effort, spirit and heart of the Police!
