09/05/10  Charity Race Night at Lochinch
On Friday 14th May there will be a Charity Race Night up at Lochinch.  A great night out is guaranteed
with horse racing on the big screen a raffle, disco and food all for only £6 a ticket.

You don't need to be a gambler to come along - it's just a bit of fun and the Ladies (or men considering
who reads this forum) can wear their 'Ascot' hats. All proceeds are going to the Prince and Princess of
Wales Hospice.

Stewart Croll is arranging it and I would recommend contacting him to say if you're going along as the
last race night sold out! Stewart can be reached on 721 5409 or through his pnn.police email.
If you can't make it along then I'm sure any raffle donations would be very gratefully received.
09/05/10  AGM
Following the AGM we have to say congratulations to the following folk who have agreed to don the
mantle for 'one more year':-  Gary Thomson (Chair/Presidente), Kenny McLeod (Secretary), Alan Watson
(Treasurer), Stuart Gillies (1XV Captain), Robert Armour (2XV Captain).  The full AGM minute will be
available in the players section as soon as it's received.
09/05/10  The Annual Players Dinner
Congratulations to those who were recognised at the Dinner.  Club Man of the Year went, deservedly to
Craig Aikman for his tireless efforts at getting teams out on to the pitch week after week over a very
difficult season.  Stuart Gillies (aka Baby G) took Player of the Year for the second year running.  Thighs
of The Year went to Alan Henderson/Westy/Westo/Hendy/Hendo

Also thanks go to Archie Mair for entertaining the masses and as always to Craig for his Ode which will
be published shortly and also to everyone who donated a raffle prize!

Special mention also to the extras who helped make the night special:-
Janitor - Ross Douglas
Photographer - Gordon Coburn
Woman - Grant Gibson
and, as always, to the Lochinch staff for all their efforts, the fine repast and putting up with us all!
09/05/10 Upcoming Events
We have a whole raft of upcoming events that you can get involved in.

On 15th May a team is being put together for the East Kilbride 7s, see Baby G if you're interested in
playing.  Also on the 15th May at Lochinch we're looking for some volunteers to help out at a very busy
event from 11am to 2pm.  If you can spare the time then check on the
forum for more details or speak to
Alan or Gary.

On 22nd May the plan is to send a team down to the Kilmarnock 7s and we're also hosting the Scottish
Police v Irish Combined Police at Lochinch at 1pm.  Both events promise much fun and socialising!
See Baby G if you want to play at the Kilmarnock 7s.

We are yet again hosting the highly successful SPRA Family day in the grounds and clubhouse on
Sunday 13th June from 12 noon onwards.   We will be looking for volunteers to help 'man the BBQ'. If
plenty commit to showing up then it should only mean an hour or so 'in the trenches' and then freedom
to enjoy the rest of the event. Last year the valiant few worked exceptionally hard but had a really good
time. Those that help out will be fed and watered over the course of the event too!

All players, supporters and their families are invited along to enjoy the day - there will be rides, stalls,
displays from the dog and horse branches, beer tent, tea tent, kids games and activities, face painting
etc. Get the date in your diary now!

The website will also be undergoing it's annual revamp with this years photo's etc being archived and
the new site all spruce and shiny ready for next season.
05/06/10 Final News & Updates of Season 2009/10
Sorry for the delay folks but the players dinner pics are now up on line along with Craig's ever excellent
'ode to the year'.  The photos from the Irish match will be on line within the next week or so on the
Scottish site but we'll post a link from the revamped SPRFC site as soon as they are ready.

You may have heard that we were docked 3 points for missing games over the season and this is taken
off this years tally leaving us at a zero position points wise for the season.  Certainly gives us all to play
for next year to improve the final scoreline in the league.

A reminder that SPRA family day is on this Sunday (13th June) from 12 noon till 5pm at Lochinch.  As
always we will be manning one of the burger stalls, in direct competition with the Curling Section this
year.  Basically the more folks turn up the less time you have to spend flipping or serving.  There's lots
for families to do on the day with stalls, fairground rides, tea tent, beer tent and plenty of activities for the
kids, as well as displays from various police teams including the mounted and dog branch - hopefully
the helicopter (if not needed operationally) will also be visiting.  If you are able to help out on Saturday
with set up that would be fantastic, but if not then try to get along for at least some of the time on the
Sunday to enjoy the day and help out.  Parking on the day is at Bellahouston with buses running into
Lochinch from there.  If you need any further details then please speak to Alan or Gary.

Also Pre-Pre-Season-Fat-Camp is kicking off at Lochinch on Wednesday nights (and potentially
Saturday afternoons too) for those of you who feel the need to get a head start on raising your fitness.
There is a thread on the
forum about this where you can find out more details.

The website is currently undergoing it's revamp and hopefully next season's site should be up
sometime this week.  This season will then be archived but will be fully accessible.  So it's goodnight
from us, and a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the website over the last season - we'll
see you in a week or so for the start of the warm up for Season 2010/11!

  ONE MORE YEAR!
