May 2008  British Police Texas Tour

Early this summer two of Strathclyde’s finest were selected to play with the British Police Rugby Team and had the ‘once in a lifetime’
chance to go on tour to the USA with the squad.  Jim McArthur and Iain 'Nellie' Nelson were included in the 30-strong party who travelled to
Texas in May for the 12 day tour.

The British team played three games over the course of the tour, scoring comprehensive victories in all matches, making it a ‘clean sweep’
for the visitors.  The team played Woodlands RFC (score 7–106), Houston Athletic RFC (score 0–74) and Austin Blacks RFC (10-57).  The
final game was played in 112 degree heat, which makes the 47 point victory all the more impressive.

Jim played in all three games and Iain played in two of the three despite having picked up a knee injury in the first game. As well as playing
rugby both Iain and Jim were able to enjoy the more social side of the game as each of the hosts tried to out do each other in entertaining
the British Team (as you can see in the photo's below.  Both players will be included in future matches planned for season 2008/2009 -
their inclusion in the British Police side came as a direct result of playing with the Strathclyde Police Rugby Team and the Scottish Police
side.
