New York 7's
The Union have been invited to enter a team into the New York Rugby Club 7s in November 2010. This tour is at an advanced planning stage and a
team of 12 players and 3 coaching staff plus 5 others who have decided to tag along to support the team. The intention is to not only take part in the
7s, but through an association with USA Rugby we have been asked to assist in delivering 2 rugby coaching sessions with inner city schools to help
promote rugby as a sport and also as part of a local initiative to encourage kids away from crime through team sports.  The team will also be visiting
the Ground Zero Emergency Services Memorial Site to lay a wreath to colleagues who lost their lives in the line of their duties.

John Shaw takes up role of Scottish Representative
As Chairman of the Union John Shaw was approached in April 2010 by the chairman of the Police Sport UK Rugby Section, Assistant Commissioner
Frank Armstrong (City of London Police)  to take up the role of Scottish representative on their committee. He will be responsible for the nominations
of suitable players from the Scottish Police Forces to the PSUK rugby side and also to assist with coaching and logistics.

Season 2010/11 will see the PSUK side play 4 games at their home ground of Stourbridge RFC. They will also undertake an overseas tour, possibly
to South Africa at the end of the season. Players selected to represent the Scottish side will be considered for trial with the PSUK side. Trials for the
PSUK side will be at the start of next season and several Scottish players have been selected following the recent fixture v Irish Police XV in Glasgow.

Scottish Police v Combined Irish Police - May 20120
The Irish fixture is a regular on the calender and Lochinch were delighted to host the match again this season. The Scottish side was represented by
players from six Scottish Police Forces (only Tayside and Northern missed out).   The match was played in glorious weather with a healthy crowd to
cheer on both teams. The Scottish side started the stronger scoring the first try in either half, but the Irish side who had played together before proved
to be the stronger team with some devastating pace outwide which they used to score 7 tries during the match. Th Scottish were not to be out done
and scored 4 tries of their own during the match. The final score was 47 - 30 to the visitors. The players and supporters enjoyed the opportunity to
bask in the sunshine after the match whilst enjoying the cool drinks which were in plentiful supply from Estelle and her staff in the bar. Following a
meal at the club, the teams and some of the supporters headed into Glasgow to watch the Heiniken Rugby Cup Final followed by The Champions
League Football Final. Some new friendships were forged during the day and some old ones continued. A return fixture is anticipated in Dublin in
2011.

The team will be playing against the Scottish Navy U23 team on the 10th December 2008 in Helensburgh.  Kick off will be at 2pm.  Please speak to
John Shaw for selection for this match.  We hope to have a return fixture playing at Lochinch, the home of the Strathclyde Police Rugby Team, in
January.  The British Team are also playing this month against Glamorgan Country on 26th November down in Swansea, several Scottish players
have been selected for this match. In the mean time if you are interested in arranging a fixture or in playing for the team then please

28/07/08  Planned Fixtures
The team now have a number of fixtures that are in the planning stage.  First up is a match with the Scottish Deaf team which should take place at
Lochinch in October 2008.   Following that early in 2009 the team will travel over the Irish sea to take on the An Garda Siochana in Dublin.  Rounding
off the 08/09 season, plans are afoot to hold a 4 Nations Police 10s Tournament in Scotland.  Further details on all these fixtures and any additional
fixtures will be posted as soon as they are available.  In the mean time if you are interested in arranging a fixture or in playing for the team then

05/10/07  Scottish Police vs Scottish Army
The Scottish Team took to the field against the Scottish Army as a warm up for the crowd prior to Edinburgh v Ulster at Murrayfield. The short match
was played 15 mins each way with a final score of  7-3 in favour of the Army team.  One of the outcomes of the match is an invitation to play the
Scottish Army in a full fixture sometime in 2008, hopefully to coincide with the 6 Nations.   Some
photo's and a more detailed report on the match are
on line

05/10/07  Scottish Police vs Australian Police
For those of you who were fortunate enough to be there on Wednesday 19th September you'll know we had a fantastic day in the company of the
touring Aussie Police Rugby team.  A close fought match resulted in a 19-15 score to the tourists, who broke Scottish hearts with a last minute try.
Post match hospitality was outstanding with a raft of presentations and (thankfully) short speeches.  Festivities went on into the wee small hours.

The lads who pulled on the Scottish jersey did us all proud - so congratulations to all of you. Everyone played out of their skins and Phil Nicol (from
Strathclyde) was awarded 'Man of the Match' by the Australian coaching staff.   Iain Nelson captained the Scottish squad for the match, and as always
led from the front. Several players from The Scottish squad are being considered by Derek Turnbull (ex-Scotland international and British Police
coach) for future games and will hopefully get the nod to travel to Glamorgan to represent the British Police at the end of November 2007.  We'll keep
you updated as news comes in.
